Bremerton Raceway’s Grand Finale

This past weekend marked the final points races in the year long Summit E.T. Series at Bremerton Raceway. For the racers that were still involved in the points chase with a shot at the titles in High School, Sportsman, Pro, Super Pro and Motorcycle it proved to be an exciting finish that came down to the wire in all the classes. For the Summit Series it was a “double header” meaning that points could be earned both Saturday and Sunday.

Along with all the fore mentioned bracket classes the weekend included the “Annual Full Throttle Shootout” presented again this year by Kitsap Brake and Muffler on Saturday. On Sunday it was the final event for the Northwest Heads Up Racing Association and a Quick 16 Shootout as well.

An action packed weekend saw the following winners on Saturday:

Class Driver
High School
Justin Vest
Super Pro Aaron Spitzer
Pro Kenny O’Keefe
Sportsman Jerry Gossette
Motorcycle Stacy Hesch

Winning the “Kitsap Brake and Muffler “Full Throttle Shootout” was not an easy task. This event was contested using the .5 tenths Pro Tree, and for most it was their first chance at using this style of starting line setup; as most of the bracket classes use the .5 Tenths Full Tree during the Summit E.T. Series events. Overall, it was very competitive and entertaining to watch. The Full Throttle Shootout is a unique format and it allows everyone in all the classes to take a shot at winning a $ 500.00 Bonus! After the dust settled, so to speak Gary Gandee Jr. took home the money.

Over 600 Images from all the action on Saturday are available – to view them click here.

On Sunday a special presentation was made to former “Bremerton Handlers” President and current Chief Tech Inspector: Gary Gandee Sr. Gary and his wife Pattee will be leaving the Handlers and the Northwest for a long awaited move to Tennessee. To be amongst his family and enjoy retirement. Gary’s son Gary Gandee Jr. will remain in Washington and continue to be a integral part of the Bremerton Handlers Racing Association. A farewell presentation was part of the pre-race ceremonies with the presentation of a special jacket and cake.

Sunday was another action packed day as the points battles became even tighter after the conclusion of Saturdays action. Winners included:

Motorcycle Jim Werre
Sportsman Gary Gandee Jr.
Pro Brad Burton
Super Pro Kevin Rennick

Riders Tear It Up On Pacific Raceways Motocross Track

Photographer Jim Doyle was at the Motocross track recently due to a break in the action at the drag strip, and found some great vantage points for some pictures.  The Motocross track is open every Saturday at Pacific Raceways, and See It Imagery will be on-hand to take pictures as the drag racing schedule permits.

“Summit Race of Champions” is “race Interrupted”

Certainly for every race track and bracket racer in the NHRA’s Northwest Division the Summit “Race of Champions” is the marquee event of the year. Drivers from each of 16 different race tracks worked hard to be part of this “race within a race”. On the line is a trip to legendary Pomoma Raceway and its season ending AAA Auto Club of Southern California Finals (November 6-8, 2012) to compete for the Summit Bracket Racing World Championships in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle/Snowmobile.

Summit Racing Equipment pays each driver/rider $ 3500.00 as prize money and to pay expenses for the trip to beautiful Southern California. In addition, the drivers are treated to special pit parking and a Summit sponsored dinner.

Prior to eliminations, there are “Driver Introductions” on the starting line and pre-race ceremonies.

In short, it is a true once in a lifetime achievement and an honor to represent the Northwest.

This year the ROC was held at Pacific Raceways in conjunction with the Summit E.T. Finals. Due to on track delays and the King County imposed “curfew” the Summit Race of Champions began on Saturday night, was “interrupted” due to the curfew; resumed late Sunday between rounds of the regular “Divisional Team Championship” and was finally completed on Monday morning when the semi finals and final rounds of Motorcycle/Snowmobile were completed!

Fierce competition, cheering, and fun along with lasting memories mark this event; and this year it was no different.

“Gigantic Gambler” Highlights Day Two of the Summit E.T. Bracket Finals…

With more than 550 competitors in total at this years Summit E.T. Bracket Finals; its not surprising to have almost two thirds of the racers enter the “Friday Night Gambler”. With that amount of competition involved the purses in all classes from Super Pro to Junior Dragster were overwhelming to say the least! A perfect example was Super Pro. With over 100 entries in this class alone the purse swelled to over $ 7500.00!!
