Swift Tools ET Race #8 At Pacific Raceways

Swift Tool ET #8 6-9-2013 624For the third day in a row the drag racing was hopping at Pacific Raceways. The weather could not have been better. Track prep by Rick and his crew comes a little easier when mother nature stays the same.

ET racers thrive when conditions stay the same between rounds. With the Sunday curfew in play, round after round went off smoothly to crown these winners:

Swift Tools ET Race #7 & Jr Dragsters #6 At Pacific Raceways

Swift Tool ET #7 and Jr. #5 6-8-2013 721It is nice to see cars racing down the drag strip and not have mother nature interject her will. Seems like she has been doing her rainy deed’s on race day too many times this season. The car count in all the ET classes let mother nature know they felt the same way. Thank You !

Daylong racing under the sun led to some surprises as the track worker’s had laid down ideal surface prep. Quicker 60 foot time’s and better ET’s were popping up for the racers that had prepped their cars for the conditions.

Stock/Super Stock Combo With Jr Dragsters At Pacific Raceways

Stock-Super Stock, Jr Dragster, CC 6-7-2013 137If you enjoy watching cars that hike up the front end up when they launch then this is the event you need to see. The Stock and Super Stock classes in NHRA bring together cars that fit the category. Not much can be done to the car to change the appearance from the way it came off the assembly line. Under those guidelines what you can do to them is your own discretion, but most all will launch the front end off the ground at the starting line.

Combine another class with race cars that take extremely good conditions to get the front tire up, but go to the 60′ mark just as quick? The Jr. Dragster Lightning class has some pretty quick cars that will put you back in the seat for that distance. The next generation of future tire hikers starts here. By the number of entries in Jr. Dragster Lightning the upcoming driver’s prepairing for the next step could be very interesting.

PDRC #5 & High School #3 At Pacific Raceways

PRDC #5 and HS #3 6-5-2013 248Motorcycle racing among the PRDC members is quite intense. They are always helpful to lend a hand when needed, they laugh and joke around. But when it comes to action on the starting line, it’s time to crush and win no matter the other lane occupant. This is Wednesday drag bike racing.

In-between the motorcycle rounds the highschool class was also enjoying the thrill of downing the other lane’s contestand. For such young racers their skill on the drag strip goes beyond their years.  Included in the mix were a number of test and tunes, and liscensing drivers provided pretty much nonstop racing.

In the HS class first time winner and #1 Qfy. Jessica Biscay got the win when Jacob Hjorten ran too quick.

Jor Lind used a better reaction time plus being closer to his D/I bested Jim Zevenbergen in the MC class.

Import Face Off At Pacific Raceways

Import Face Off 6-2-2013 023Back for it’s yearly event at Pacific Raceways the Import Face off began a little after the time set as overnight and early morning light rain had the track crew working hard to dry the track surface. With record holding cars on the grounds, a well prepped and dry strip would go a long way toward more record attempts. Hundreds and hundreds of cars packed Pacific’s grounds and pit’s. As the racing came to a conclusion the attempt at a new record came just a tick short.

Quick 8 #1, Jr #3, CC #2 5-31-2013 096Mother nature’s spring weather finally let up and gave the drag strip at Pacific Raceways a chance to hold an event. SCCA Practice At Pacific Raceways

Sports cars by nature are meant to be driven in nice weather, but when they are raced in a competitive manner you have to learn what the adverse conditions will do to your car.

SCCA Practice 5-24-2013 633Racing on a roadcourse in the northwest will test your driving skills, racing is done on wet and slick conditions. Throttle position as delicate as driving with an egg under your right foot helps keep the car going forward. Push too hard in the improper attitude an you may find yourself going in dougnuts or at least slidways. With the track surfaces changing through the practice day the driver’s should hav encountered all they will need over the next two days of racing.

Midday lunch to all was provided by Bigfood, the fine food vendor at Pacific Raceways. Pulled pork, slaw, chips and drinks will pick you up on a rainy day at the track.

The ProFormance Driving School instructors helped out those who had not raced the track’s 2.25mi. surface.

Brothers PowerSports Friday Night MX Series #4

The Brothers PowerSports Friday Night MX Series #4 5-24-2013 260Rain, rain, and more rain made soup out of the MX track tonight at Pacific Raceways. It would have been near impossible to get the track groomed for racing on Friday night, so MX Manager Lance Smail made the tough call on practice in order to make sure the surface was good for the moto events. The Friday night racing draws quite a few riders from the area and is becoming very popular. With new rider’s entering each event by mid-season we may be able to line the bikes up and encircle the track.

Images of all the wet and muddy action are now available in the photo gallery.  Click here to go there.
