Urban Custom Bikes #4 At Pacific Raceways

Urban Custom Bikes #4 6-24-15 13624 June 2015 Kent, WA – Overcast and muggy was the only way to describe the racing weather today. For those who came out for testing it had to be a bugger to get things right. Even climbing into the fire suits was being put off to the last second to shorten the time in it.

With the temps in the 80’s there were lines for liquid not food at the concession stand. Even with the weather the bike riders came out in force as they have for all the races.  It’s always a great mix of bikes for the race that is what really makes it such a great mid-week break.

Got a bike bring it out for the next upcoming race and join in the fun in the middle of the week. The two riders who had to put their suits on the most in the heat were John Plaster and Daren Anderson with John taking the trophy.

Swift Tools ET Series #6, Jr Dragster #7 & High School #2 At Pacific Raceways

ET #6 - Jr #7 - HS #2 6-20-15 58420 June 2015 Kent, WA – Combining the Swift Tools ET Series with a number of other racing classes to create the Super Saturdays could not have been a better idea.  It brought to the track if not a record it will be as 28 Jr’s in three classes went for the silver, as in a little “Wally”.

For the racers in the Swift Tool E.T. Series this was their goal today. Hard to get for most and getting one for the first time can be an emotional event.

Images of the action on the track and in the winners circle are now available – click here to go to the photo album.

Car Club & Test & Tune At Pacific Raceways

Car Club and Test and Tune 6-19-15 20519 June 2015 Kent, WA – The Car Club brings quite a mix of personal drivers to the track for bragging rights and awards. Yes some are more race prepared than others, but it is not much of an edge. The cars that come out of the Auto manufacturing plants these days have horsepower ratings that years ago were reserved for police cars.

Putting all that power to the track is still a factor today as it was back then. Street tires do require some babying to get traction, all part of the fun of club racing.

Putting everything together this night was Don Berry and his 68’ Camaro.

Images of all the club cars and others there for testing are now available – click here to go to the photo album.

ProFormance Racing Shool – June 18th, 2015

ProFormance Racing School 6-18-15 11818 June 2015 Kent, WA – The more I watch and listen to the students who sign up to go thru the ProFormance School the more reasons I learn why they are taking the courses. Like the books that the racers keep on the ways to race the reasons are many. Most are pretty common like just becoming a better driver or a “bucket list” that you always wanted to do, no matter the reason going thru the school is the best thing you can do to become a better driver no matter the application.

The license that the state issues you after you pass the driving portion allows you to run the roads, the license you can get from ProFormance after passing the driving test will allow you to drive in a road race event. The last post is a great example of this with the two young men that went thru the school.

If you’re interested road racing and have ideas in this manner check out their web site for information that will fit for you.

ProFormance Racing Shool + Added Bonus!

ProFormance Racing School 6-17-15 00917 June 2015 Kent, WA – The happenings today at ProFormance Racing School could not be any farther apart in what they are and here for. It started put with a group picture for Cardiac Dimensions Racing for a team building get together.

Taking the entire team thru the day long class and driving experience on the 2.25 mile road course. Though most all have never driven in this or any other type of motor sport and by the end of the day all were driving as though it was no big deal or like they had been here many times before. This is a testament to the instructors and owner Don Kitch and the way they teach.

ProFormance Racing School 6-17-15 508ProFormance Racing School D-70 6-17-15 378Speaking about teaching a couple of weeks ago a couple of young men from Oregon came up and went through the school. Today 18 year old Gracin Raz and 16 year old Noah Gragson were testing here with their K&N race cars for an upcoming race in Sonoma CA. A high school grad just days ago Gracin has already proven himself as a driver and Noah is not far behind him. Both looked and sounded smooth in their four hour testing session with all with the approved permission by NASCAR.

It was quite a treat to meet two very polite and gifted young men, and I say men because they have earned it even thou their time on earth is a small number. I wish them good luck and hope to see them again. Seeing and hearing their cars thunder down the straightaway was quite an experience.

Swift Tools ET Series #5 & Outlaw 10.5 At Pacific Raceways – June 14th, 2015

Swift #5 with Outlaw 10.5 6-14-15 10014 June 2015 Kent, WA – The first of two on the schedule are done, now it is into the second day and the water and sunscreen is aplenty everywhere. Hot racing weather and hot racing go together like bread and butter. The drawback to the heat is that it will take its toll on man and machine.

Cooling both is a constant endeavor: if not the unexpected can happen. You hear it a lot and people say it a lot –  “Need any water?”. There was plenty to be had at the Bigfoods stand and by the looks of the lines at times people were getting plenty of liquids with food.

At the end of the day these winner’s got past the heat. I would like to thank Breann Ipsen for the additional photography work.

Super Pro – Gary Ermish
Pro – Scott Lewsley
Sportsman – Nick Douglas
Motorcycle – Chris Benda
Outlaw 10.5 – Ken Sihota

Swift Tools ET Series #4, EF-65 Jr Dragster #6, Outlaw 10.5 At Pacific Raceways – June 13th, 2015

EF-65 Jr. #6 and Swift #4 with Outlaw 10.5 6-13-15 55813 June 2015 Kent, WA – The first thing done at a weekend race for the Swift Tool Series is the mandatory driver’s meeting. With a crowd of 170+ gathered around to hear dragstrip manager Ed Garfield go offer the rules it was already getting hot.

The weatherman has put out the high 70’s will be here both weekend days. Let the hydration begin. You just cannot get enough sometimes and when you jump into a fire suit then into a car that is pretty much a sealed container the heat really shows. No more wondering why so many wrap the driver’s suits or just drop the top so it hangs just to get cool.

I guess those that kept their cool the longest ended up in the winner’s circle.  They are:

Jaslyun Bean in Jr Storm
Ian Theofelis in Jr Thunder
Kaden Bean in Jr Lightning
Joe Lind in Motorcycle
Eric Brittain in Sportsman
Brad Burton in Pro
Jess Dale in Super Pro
Dave Wakefield in Crosstalk
Greg Steen in No Crosstalk
#1 Qualifier Outlaw 10.5 is Ken Sihota

EF-65 Jr Race #5 & Car Club At Pacific Raceways = June 12th, 2015

EF-65 Jr. Race #5 and Car Club 6-12-15 16212 June 2015 Kent, WA – With back to back events the Juniors had a chance to make big moves in their 2015 point positions. The weather the same for both days so the tuning set right can carry you once it is set to the conditions.

Should be easy right? That’s why they call it racing. Just because you win today do’s not mean that you will do it again the next day even though the conditions are the same. It is the great fun I think in the competition of trying to repeat what you did on the winning pass you just made.

With so many variables that can affect the outcome and it can get into your head if you try to think too much, that is when you can overlook even the simplest of things.

Those that got it right this night are as follows:

Raylee Higgins in Jr Storm
Cole Dickhoff in Jr Thunder
Josh Schmanke in Jr Lightning
Larry DeCamp in Car Club

Urban Custom Bikes #3 At Pacific Raceways

Urban Custom Bikes Series #3 6-10-15 16710 Jun 2015 Kent, WA – Race number three for the Urban series kicked off with temps in the high 70’s and a track temp well over 100 degrees. Keeping cool in these conditions brought out the shade finders and those that worship these warm conditions.

Plenty of sunscreen and the pinkness for those without watching the diverse bikes that run this series. Pure street bikes and pure race bikes and the bikes that are a combination of both could be seen and enjoyed.

After four rounds of racing this night saw “Mighty” Joe Lind as I heard his name announced grabbed another trophy as he ran right on his dial to the thousandth to end William Nitta’s bid.

Check Pacific’s web site for the next date for the bikes.

ProFormance Racing School – June 10th, 2015

ProFormance Racing School 6-10-15 04110 Jun 2015 Kent, WA – When people sign up for the ProFormance Racing School they have a number of reasons to do so. For many it is a stepping stone to a potential racing job and other’s it is a bucket list item. Add now to that list the just wanting to be a better defensive driver.

Two drivers’ today were doing just that, one going on a road trip using the back roads and another going to Germany and the fast paced roads there. This is not about going fast but more toward being prepared for just about anything that you may encounter. Those back roads have plenty of four legged creatures that could cross your path and knowing how to correctly avoid without impact is a basic skill that is brought to your attention in the school.

Running on the high speed hi-ways in Germany what part of your windshield you need to pay attention to for potential issues up ahead. Two separate reasons for the use of the school but the same bottom line – be a better driver.

See the ProFormance web site for contact info to bring you reason for attending the school.
