Swift Tools ET Series #4 at Pacific Raceways

12 May 2018 Kent, WA – After “Mother Nature and a Curfew” played havoc with the Swift Series earlier it was great to get in a full race. This race #4 was combined with the first of five “Budweiser Under the Lights” Events this season.

Set up on the tower patio with seating and tables for food and drink the bonus is it is a great spot to take in the four main classes in the Swift Series.

There were 160 entries to grab points and four trophies were handed out at the end of the night plus the pay out for winning and running up.

Race #4 winners are William Nitta in Motorcycle, Jake Biscay in Sportsman, Brian McGinnis in Pro and Austin Calhoun in Super Pro. Next race is June 9th.

Swift Tools ET Series #3 & Mark Lyle Jr Invitational

05 May 2018 Kent, WA – Early Saturday morning had a line of racers for the Swift Tool ET #3 and the WCSA, BB/FC, EF-65 Junior #4 plus the very first “Mark Lyle Junior Invitational”.

With the drivers meeting finished it was on to time trials for all classes minas the Juniors who will start the next round of qualifying. Always bringing it the classes of the WCSA and their one 8th mile racing and the BB/FC always please.

To me the highlight to the races today had to be the tribute to Mark Lyle. On hand the Lyle family was out in force with Marks wife Marcia watching and taking pictures on the wall and what has to be the greatest honor for a brother Ken Lyle was on the “switch” starting the Juniors.

This race day though would come to an early end as “Mother Nature” put an end to the great track prep by soaking it with water.

Some classes did have winners and they are Trenton Smith in Junior Street, Jacob Vanderwaal in High School, Sean Miller in Open Comp, Tim Vogt in Pro Street, Sherry Rohr in Outlaw 8.5, and Paja Agatonowic in Outlaw 10.5.

Almost 500 images from all the action today – lots to choose from! Click here to go to the photo album.

Swift Tools ET Series #2 at Pacific Raceways

22 April 2018 Kent, WA –  After the rain-out of race #1 it was great to see the sunshine but still covered in coats and sweatshirts as the wind was a bit chilly. It was great to see all the racers eager to hit the tree, many for the first time this season thus filling all the classes in the Swift Tool Series.

It was time trials first, then we went on to opening festivities and into eliminations then that “Law” that no one likes hit the track as the curfew hit the hour and racing was done for the day.

Lots of great images for this event, click here to go to the photo album. As always thank you for your support and purchases!

2017 Swift Tools ET Series Finals at Pacific Raceways

26 Aug 2017 Kent, WA – Champions are made by playing the game and the game is the outcome but all that prep that no one see’s or really hears about is what really makes the champion. For those involved will look at this race #13 as their number that became a “lucky” one and not the normal that is applied to the number.

This the last race of the 2017 Swift Tool E.T. Series will see those champs crowned and from them will emerge a “King of The Track”.

Swift Tools ET Series Race #12

12 Aug 2017 Kent, WA – The road to the E.T. Finals and track champions got a bit clearer at the end of race number 12 of the Swift Tools ET Series at Pacific Raceways. Add to this it was also a “Super Saturday” and the last of the season and everything turbo in the Buick world with a “Turbo Thunder” event.

Super Saturday with this many classes to run takes the planning and execution by track manager Ed Garfield and his drag crew. This came to focus in the combination of smart driving by Lane Cavar after pitching a rod when he pulled to the wall, kept the oil trail short and aiding in the very fast clean up by the drag crew to back to racing and finishing before curfew.

Tons of great pictures for this event – click here to view them. As always thank you for your support and purchases!!

Swift Tools ET Series Make-Up Race at Pacific Raceways

11 Aug 2017 Kent, WA – Having dates that you can use in case of early season rain-outs is a must. Here in the northwest the early season races are in the hands of Mother Nature and she likes to keep it green around here. Now with the E.T. Finals on the horizon the makeup date comes into play and the points count for those in the hunt.

Along with the makeup race, Car Club, High School and the Grudge racing group that came out in force. Formally called “The Cars of the 253” it’s good to see how much it has grown during the season.

Swift Tools ET Series Event #10 at Pacific Raceways

15 July 2017 Kent, WA – With just three races left in the season points are becoming a must for those at the top of their class standings. Staying at the top and protecting your lead takes a dedication drive that comes from within.

Becoming a winner in an E.T. series takes more than just showing up and being first to the stripe. All that time you put into the prep in your garage or shop not seen by others is not too far off from the “spring” training or the camp you attend in football.

Doing the same thing over and over so that you react and not think brings you closer to what most will think, “Are you a machine”.

Unlike a machine the “human” part is the most important and the most varied. Getting your head into the game and keeping it there with all the distractions that surround you takes that prep that you put into it long before you head down the track.

Images from the 10th stop in the Swift Tools ET Series are now available – click here to go to the photo album.

Those grabbing the trophy in their class are:

Super Pro – Dale Green
Pro – Rob Lindley
Sportsman – Gordon Rust
Motorcycle – Jim Were
High School – Mackenzie Van Horne

Swift Tools ET Series #9, United Nitro Funny Cars Part of Busy Day at Pacific Raceways

08 July 2017 Kent, WA – The Saturday marked for the 8th of July arrived, and along with the normal Super Saturdays line up the United Nitro Funny Car group came ready to play. Shooting for the top eight spots in these old school race cars made for a great show.

When counting the qualifying rounds these cars made a bunch of passes giving all those watching quite a show. Those around for the old 64 funny car days remember what these race dates are all about.

These ground pounders always get the people running to their seats to take in the action. Fitted with current safety equipment is really the only difference from their past days on the track. Legendary promoter Bill Doner who brought the 64 funny car events to then Seattle International Raceway now does it again to the original named Pacific Raceways.

With the aid of local racer Bucky Austin they put together a summertime event that has not been to the track in many years. The aroma and sounds of nitro at a non-national event gets you a tad bit closer to the action, besides its “old school” racing from the hay day of these funny cars. I have no clue as to another event next year but me and the thousands that came out for the event sure hope so as it is a great fit to the “Super Saturday” dates that are on Pacific’s schedule thru out the season.

LIST OF WINNERS

Funny Car – Bobby Cottrell
