19 Apr 2015 Kent, WA – Coming again to Pacific’s legendary 2.25 mile track the Optima Batteries ChumpCar series brought quite a mix of race prepared cars and a theme for the teams. Two separate 7 hour non-stop racing days tested the race drivers and their equipment.
As many as four drivers split the driving duties just as in most all endurance racing it is a “team” event. There are not many pristine looking cars here as some bumping and contact happens as it is racing in close proximity with each other, though stressed at the driver’s meeting that if it does happen and is seen by the corner worker’s you “will” be black flagged to the paddock for an explanation.
Nothing wrong with being an aggressive driver, just don’t do it at the expense of your competitor. Just because your car looks like a “beater” is not a reason to treat it that way. The cars are fully prepared on the inside with a slew of safety equipment starting with a “cage”.
Driver safety is as important here as in all forms of racing. The ingenuity of these teams to put together a car that will last for seven hours of “hard” driving is quite impressive as the “rules” restrict what you can use.
Nearly 50 entries starting this event on Saturday though the law of averages say that all will not finish the full two day event due to a multitude of malfunctions, thus the ingenuity factor of how to eliminate as many as possible ways to lose. The top five for each day are as follows:

2nd- Eh! Team
3rd- JAT
4th- Osprey MotorSports 2
5th- Killer Whale
Sunday:
