Cornwall Tools & Les Schwab Tires High School Drags

04 May 2018 Kent, WA – Friday brought out to the track the 48th All High School Drags sponsored by Cornwell Tools and Les Schwab Tires. Students from many of the high schools around Pacific Raceways bring their cars and trucks which ends up being bragging rights for that person and the school that gained the prizes put up by the sponsors.

Helping the schools some past grads up to age 25 run in the “Alumni” class and the big help they give the high schoolers in the lanes notably the dial-ins.

Ending up the best Kaden Bean scored for the high school class and Jake Tate took the alumni class.

Swift Tools ET Series #2 at Pacific Raceways

22 April 2018 Kent, WA –  After the rain-out of race #1 it was great to see the sunshine but still covered in coats and sweatshirts as the wind was a bit chilly. It was great to see all the racers eager to hit the tree, many for the first time this season thus filling all the classes in the Swift Tool Series.

It was time trials first, then we went on to opening festivities and into eliminations then that “Law” that no one likes hit the track as the curfew hit the hour and racing was done for the day.

Lots of great images for this event, click here to go to the photo album. As always thank you for your support and purchases!

Test-N-Tune #2 at Pacific Raceways

25 Mar 2018 Kent, WA – The second Test-N-Tune of the 2018 season brought in more new faces and cars, not the number from the previous weekend but a large number for a test and tune.

Cold and cloudy for the early morning then the sun was in and out of the clouds all day. At times the lanes were filled back around the curve. As the rounds of racers in cars, trucks, bikes and Jr. Dragsters moved on like clock-work a testament to the dragstrip crew keeping things running smooth.

The winners here today were all those that came out on a chilly Sunday for a Test and Tune. No April Fools here the next date will start the season for the Jr.’s along with a test and tune, see you then.

Test-N-Tune & Chassis Certification at Pacific Raceways

18 Mar 2018 Kent, WA – The 2018 season for Pacific Raceways got off to a little slow start as Mother Nature decided to rain on the parade with an early morning shower. With late winter temps the moisture takes way more work to eliminate than the warmer temps of spring and summer.

With this task ahead of them the track crew got after it just before sunrise and by mid-morning and a line of cars in the lanes things were looking better.

There were many new faces in the pits along with a bunch of Pacific’s steady racers out to test the upgrades and new rides.

We’re looking forward to the test-n-tune next Sunday the 25th to see what comes to the track to tackle the northwest house of hook down the “Mark Lyle Boulevard.

Images from all the action are now available – the new camera is really making a difference. Click here to go to the photos.

Toys For Tots – NW Toy Drive at Pacific Raceways

03 Dec 2017 Kent, WA – Each December Pacific Raceways property plays host to some very generous people. The annual NW Toy Drive benefiting Toys for Tots. Sponsored by Lexus of Bellevue.

Thousands of folks brought their un-wrapped gifts or cash donation for the Marine Corps Reserve program. Combine this with holiday music and vendors covering the many cars out for the car show gathering.

Out on the 2.25mi. Track a “lead/follow” overseen by ProFormance Racing School and Don Kitch giving those who take part an idea of what it feels like to drive a road course.

In the house, Santa and his helpers were on hand accepting gifts and posing for pictures, also on hand Ed Troyer from the Pierce County Toys for Tots program. Every year that I have covered this event it has gotten bigger and bigger thus proving the generosity of the NW to those in need.

This year exceeded last year’s total when combining cash donations and boxes of toys and those taking part in the lead/follow is growing in popularity. Great job by all those involved as it takes many to help bring it together each year.

Till next year Happy Holidays to all.

NWN Motorsports Track Day at Pacific Raceways

07 Oct 2017 Kent, WA – To say that drag racing in the Northwest in October could be hitched to global warming, can’t say that this is true but with a total of three weekend days set for drag racing is on the docket for Oct.

Mother Nature is as always the controlling factor and will test a drag strip crew to no end prepping a track for racing. On this day a private track rental put together by Mookie Dedic but open to the public brought a whole bunch of his race friends out for a day of racing.

After getting help from Mother Nature drying the track creating a later start than posted the lanes filled and the fun began till curfew with only a slight delay due to light sprinkles. Taking advantage of this day also Steve Huff Motorsports brought out the “all” electric dragster seeking the record they are ever so close to now.

To those that have the records know, everything has to go spot on in your attempt to do so. The power is there, it’s getting the moving parts settings just right and the record will be theirs to hold.

Next chance weather permitting is Oct. 15th a Sunday.

32nd Annual Bi-Mart Classic at Woodburn Dragstrip

24 Sept 2017 Woodburn, OR – Depending on your Friday obligations it was a two or three day weekend of racing in great weather for racers and spectators alike at the 32nd Annual Bi-Mart Fall Classic at Woodburn Dragstrip.

It was a test and tune on Friday and two separate races, one Saturday and again on Sunday. Saturday ran 13 classes with 16 on Sunday. From BB/Funny Cars down to the Jr. Dragsters and just about all the classes in-between for a Nostalgia and E.T. themed race weekend.

Adding to the weekend was the final two races for the Super Comp and Super Street Associations series and for the BB/Funny Car Association series. For the spectators in the stands, they watched wheel standing cars, high powered race cars on small tires power down the track the action and diverse classes had to be a joy to watch. Throw in a jet powered dragster belching fire had many a cell phone out recording the run.

Images from all three days are now available in three albums located in the event folder. Click here to go to the photo album.

We are looking forward to number 33 next year and with the 264 entries this year and sure to be more for the next Fall Classic will make a great weekend of racing.

GM Nationals at Pacific Raceways

16 Sept 2017 Kent, WA – Cast, stamped or badged if it says GM its fair game for the GM Nationals. Daily drivers to dragsters took part in Pacific Raceways season ending event.

Combining the drags with a car show brought some very fine stock and customized machinery that GM has produced over the years. You really could spend hours walking the rows in the car show area taking in what the owners have brought for you to take in and photograph.

Lots of great GM imagery is now available – check out the photo album by clicking here. As always thanks for all your support and purchases!!!!

Ending the day on the dragstrip broke away from the all GM as a very new Maserati up from California made a pass down the track as these winners picked up their trophies:

Electronics – Jim Mabry
Hot Rod – Greg Steen
Street Rod – Jennifer Benda
LS/LT – Ken Nylin
Money Run – Kevin Rennick

K&D Autowerks Jr Invitational West Coast Grudge

10 Sept 2017 Kent, WA – This inaugural event and a bonus date for the grudge racers provided for a great day of racing at Pacific Raceways, and “all” of it only 1/8th mile.

A race for the juniors that the top three places earn some cash, or I should say the parents earn it as there is an age requirement for payouts. 22 juniors in three classes came for a run at the money and the “last” race of the season and for two their last race ever as a junior.

As for the grudge racers they came from across the border in Chilliwack,BC clear down to Rochester to come to Pacific and do some side by side grudge racing. Logged into the “Compu-link” were 106 racers times and speeds, the “only” place that both lanes are seen.

When you get your time slip after the “instant” green start is “only” your info and “none” of the other lane. 106 grudge racers at a “bonus” event for them as their season and it’s four dates have been run with the last race bringing I’m thinking 20 or so cars and way more the previous two combined but 106 just shows what the internet and Willy Peterson, who is the driving force on social media guiding all those that are into grudge racing and follow “Street Outlaws” to the outlet off the streets and under “safe” conditions to duke it out.

All in all a great showing and cannot wait till the next one.
