01 Feb 2014 Kent, WA – With only a few more HPSDD coming up it looks like more of these would be a hit. Let’s see Porsche, Audi, Camaro, Mustang, Corvette, BMW, Mazda, Copper Mini’s, Lotus, Fiat did I miss any? Yes I did, add in Igor in the Viper having a blast passing everything he can while covering the 2.25mi. roadcourse at Pacific Raceways.

Yes there are a few brands not named but as you can see all types of autos take advantage of these High Performance Sport Driving Days. Add in a Stohr FB open wheel racecar to the mix and it makes for a good time to watch what it going around the track. Seeing all these differant cars going around the track shows the diversity of the Northwest driver’s choice of their ride’s. 04 Jan 2014 Kent, WA – Roadcourse driving is all about following a “line” to obtain your fastest time and speed. The other factor is the weather. You get to drive in all weather conditions.

Rain,snow, etc. Of the weather that “will” stop any driving on the course the three main one’s are “hydroplaning”, “lightning”, and “ice”.

The latter was the case for a short time during the practice day. A short time with a torch and broom cured the issue allowed the day to begin. This type of issue is only one part of what the instructors and Pacific personal check for before anyone attempts to lap the 2.25 mile track. Safety first is always the first order of business. 07 Dec 2013 Kent, WA – Winter has not offically arrive yet on the calender but the cold weather whiped across the rest of the country creating havoc.  It ended driving at any kind speed, try and it would not end well.

But that was not the case for this weeks HPSDD at Pacific Raceways. Yes it was cold; but the sun was shining over most of the track and it was dry. No snow or ice to contend with, just the cold temps and a slight breeze that created a wind chill that is quite biting if you were not dressed for it.

Nobody understood this better than the turn worker’s,  who were in and out of the sunshine as the day went by. The cold did not bother most of the drivers, as most of them were in cars that have heaters. Learning to drive when the temp is below freezing on any surface is a challenge of it’s own, and to go ahead and do it as fast as you can was a whole new deal.

Doing this type of driving at driving school is the best way to go. Located on the Pacific Raceways property is The ProFormance Racing School, and its instructors teach this control and safety to anyone who wishes to learn. 30 Nov 2013 Kent, WA – It was another great driving day on the famed 2.25 mile Pacific Raceways road course.

Learning to drive your own car at a race track, at its limits, and with  different weather conditions conditions that are controlled by instructors and safety workers at the turns can be a huge benefit driving on the streets and highways in the northwest. 17 Nov 2013 Kent, WA – The second of the planned fall High Performance Sport Driving Days (HPSDD) greeted everyone with a much different set of weather conditions than the previous race day.

The conditions greatly impact the seat time that all drivers go through,  as one can never know when a race will present similar conditions.  Today even the seasoned drivers were caught off guard by the surface changes. As a teaching tool the weather is as important as your equipment that you bring to test, and you can only push so hard before bad things happen.

09 Nov 2013 Kent, WA – The end of the drag racing season at Pacific Raceways opened the road course to full use and the resumption of the HPSDD.  A wide range of entries took advantage of the chance to get back on track along with some who for the first time wanted to test their skills against the famed 2.25mi. surface.

Overseeing all the action was ProFormance Racing School’s Don Kitch Jr.Don and the other instructors did what they do best, teach.

Covering the corners the Lost Mines Safety Team kept everyone safe around the track and the weather did it’s part by keeping the rain away. The smiles on the face’s told the story, it was a great day at Pacific Raceway.

Sports cars by nature are meant to be driven in nice weather, but when they are raced in a competitive manner you have to learn what the adverse conditions will do to your car.

Racing on a roadcourse in the northwest will test your driving skills, racing is done on wet and slick conditions. Throttle position as delicate as driving with an egg under your right foot helps keep the car going forward. Push too hard in the improper attitude an you may find yourself going in dougnuts or at least slidways. With the track surfaces changing through the practice day the driver’s should hav encountered all they will need over the next two days of racing.

Midday lunch to all was provided by Bigfood, the fine food vendor at Pacific Raceways. Pulled pork, slaw, chips and drinks will pick you up on a rainy day at the track.

The ProFormance Driving School instructors helped out those who had not raced the track’s 2.25mi. surface.
