Porsche Club Day At Pacific Raceways

Porsche Club 7-10-15 16110 July 2015 Kent, WA – For the second of three events on the schedule Shay and her band of Porsche club members took to Pacific Raceways 2.25 mile track for a day of lapping.

Starting in the morning with a drivers meeting that everyone must attend the schedule for the different classes was laid out and awards for various deeds were given out, then they are off till noon for a lunch break put together by BigFoods.

Then off again till cutoff time when the track changes from a road course to a dragstrip – though for eight hours these fine cars took advantage of their track time each time they are here.

Final Day of 27th Annual NW Historics At Pacific Raceway

SOVREN 7-5-15 13905 July 2015 Kent, WA – The last day for the Historics weekend ended as it began, “HOT”. The temps were well above normal and everyone was after the same thing, shade and liquid. It had to be the perfect time for a cool suit as a driver all in your protective gear suffers from the heat that comes from a race car.

For those watching the umbrella for shade and no rain seemed to be the perfect fit.  Since all of this was for Seattle Children’s Hospital all felt strongly that the heat was just something that happens when you are doing things for a good cause.

I would much rather see those seeking shade than protection from the rain.  Great job by the SOVREN leaders and their cast of volunteers for a great event for a greater cause.  It was an amazing weekend!

27th Annual Pacific Northwest Historic At Pacific Raceways – July 4th, 2015

SOVREN 7-4-15 16804 July 2015 Kent, WA – When the SOVREN group gathers for their weekend of racing at Pacific Raceways it is more than just racing. Fund raising deals of all kinds come together for Seattle Children’s Hospital and what those funds can do.

The silent auction at the end of the day had many an item to bid on. For the Pro3 drivers they added a deal for a donation you got a chance to ride around the track in a just short of race speeds side by side with the other cars. By the number of cars in the pack they did very well for Seattle Children’s Hospital.

 

SOVREN 7-4-15 258Add to this the many car clubs that add to the totals by bringing out their members for a drive around the track for their donations. Pretty cool all the way around for a very good cause to help Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Porsche Club Takes To Pacific Raceways Road Course

Porsche Club 6-5-15 13105 June 2015 Kent, WA – In the first of three scheduled visits to Pacific Raceways 2.25 mile track these German exotic cars came out in large numbers. Just about any type of Porsche could be seen running around the track.

Yes there are fast ones but there are also faster ones pushing their machines to the limit of what the driver could handle.  This was not racing as most of these cars are quite expensive and the owners want to drive the car home in the same shape they drove it to the track in.

Just good fun lapping around the track getting some fine seat time safely. You can bet a lot of fun to watch and to look at in the paddock. Till the next on!

Import Face Off At Pacific Raceways

Import Face Off 5-31-15 35331 May 2015 Kent, WA – When you give a call out for the imports to put on a show the owners bring them out for the show. Primed and shined for everyone to see and looking at those looking at them speaks loudly of the popularity of the cars.

There are too many makes and models to list and this fact really shows the how many ways that they can be customized. Add to this the teams that push these cars to the max like Speed Factory and English Racing that laid down some impressive numbers on the drag strip.

With thousands of people filling the grounds the busiest of people had to be BigFoods as the lines to get something to eat were lined up most of the day giving a nod to the great food they serve. Looking forward to the Forum Fest later this month for more of this racing action so come on out and see for yourself how exciting it is.

Memorial Day Final of 35th Annual John A. Forespring Memorial Races

35th Annual John A. Forespring Memorial Races 5-25-15 31425 May 2015 Kent, WA – With now two full days of racing in the books the focus now goes to the next track. Packing up is always tough as you know the weekend is over and the process of getting ready is somewhat taken over with the fact that you can unwind and catch your breath. This is mostly true for the corner workers along with all those connected with safety, and those workers behind the scenes that put it all together.  They all did a great job as I see a lot of it through the camera lens.

35th Annual “John A. Forespring” Memorial Races

35th Annual John A. Forespring Memorial Races 5-23-15 45423 May 2015 Kent, WA – Every Memorial Day weekend the SCCA racers and the legion of workers that man the corners, the clocks and pits and so on come to Pacific Raceways. The amount of people it takes to put on a weekend of racing is quite amazing.

8:00am sharp: All the workers gather for the days layout of what they corner they will be “cornering”. They all get a radio and log book, listen to the last minute instructions, and off the go to grab some munchies or more coffee and be ready by 9:00am for a combined day of practice and qualifying.

The two days of racing ahead is really only affected by Mother Nature, and here in the Northwest it can change rapidly so everyone prepares accordingly.  A famous Boy Scout motto that really has to be thought of in the spring here.

SCCA Practice At Pacific Raceways

SCCA Practice 5-22-15 65722 May 2015 Kent, WA – Prior to the weekend of SCCA racing at Pacific Raceways, the drivers came out today to test and tune. Like any other motorsport, things change, due to upgrades made or even a new car to race.

All of these reasons are good enough to check things out, safety first then comes the fun in just driving around the track. This fact alone has the making of some fine racing for this weekend. Come on out – it is a holiday weekend after all. See you there.
