AM Skills, Novice HP & PM Lapping at ProFormance Racing School

06 Oct 2017 Kent, WA – Driving thru the school lot today the student cars were lined up and ready to go. Look a little closer and notice the makers of those of those autos. Today there was a Benz, an Audi, a new Mustang, a taped up GTR and a number of BMW’s. All very nice autos and the owners would like to keep them that way.

That upkeep is all on them and how they take care of them but once out driving the other owner driven cars and trucks can become a concern. Collision avoidance is one of the four exercises that you go thru, and according to the instructors it is the most commented on when the students are finished with the daylong class.

Knowing what your car will do in adverse conditions and more so in a potential collision situation. There is a reason that at most all road course tracks a school is on the grounds. Become a better driver by going thru the school as it may very well the best bang for the buck that you could spend on yourself and your automobile.

32nd Annual Bi-Mart Classic at Woodburn Dragstrip

24 Sept 2017 Woodburn, OR – Depending on your Friday obligations it was a two or three day weekend of racing in great weather for racers and spectators alike at the 32nd Annual Bi-Mart Fall Classic at Woodburn Dragstrip.

It was a test and tune on Friday and two separate races, one Saturday and again on Sunday. Saturday ran 13 classes with 16 on Sunday. From BB/Funny Cars down to the Jr. Dragsters and just about all the classes in-between for a Nostalgia and E.T. themed race weekend.

Adding to the weekend was the final two races for the Super Comp and Super Street Associations series and for the BB/Funny Car Association series. For the spectators in the stands, they watched wheel standing cars, high powered race cars on small tires power down the track the action and diverse classes had to be a joy to watch. Throw in a jet powered dragster belching fire had many a cell phone out recording the run.

Images from all three days are now available in three albums located in the event folder. Click here to go to the photo album.

We are looking forward to number 33 next year and with the 264 entries this year and sure to be more for the next Fall Classic will make a great weekend of racing.

GM Nationals at Pacific Raceways

16 Sept 2017 Kent, WA – Cast, stamped or badged if it says GM its fair game for the GM Nationals. Daily drivers to dragsters took part in Pacific Raceways season ending event.

Combining the drags with a car show brought some very fine stock and customized machinery that GM has produced over the years. You really could spend hours walking the rows in the car show area taking in what the owners have brought for you to take in and photograph.

Lots of great GM imagery is now available – check out the photo album by clicking here. As always thanks for all your support and purchases!!!!

Ending the day on the dragstrip broke away from the all GM as a very new Maserati up from California made a pass down the track as these winners picked up their trophies:

Electronics – Jim Mabry
Hot Rod – Greg Steen
Street Rod – Jennifer Benda
LS/LT – Ken Nylin
Money Run – Kevin Rennick

AM Skills, Novice HP & PM Lapping with ProFormance Racing School

14 Sept 2017 Kent, WA – Becoming a better driver, no matter your age or gender is but a short drive to Pacific Raceways and the ProFormance Racing School located on the property. The school, instructed by Don Kitch has your butt on a stool as he explains what you will be going thru when you get behind the wheel and start the exercises.

New drivers are timid at first but after a few runs you grasp the idea of what this part of the school program wants to teach and you to learn. Catching on to what your car feels like when you do certain inputs to the steering wheel or brakes or both will show and teach you what to expect should you encounter it on the hi-ways and bi-ways.

Check out the ProFormance Racing School website for a date that fits and leave a better and more confident driver.

K&D Autowerks Jr Invitational West Coast Grudge

10 Sept 2017 Kent, WA – This inaugural event and a bonus date for the grudge racers provided for a great day of racing at Pacific Raceways, and “all” of it only 1/8th mile.

A race for the juniors that the top three places earn some cash, or I should say the parents earn it as there is an age requirement for payouts. 22 juniors in three classes came for a run at the money and the “last” race of the season and for two their last race ever as a junior.

As for the grudge racers they came from across the border in Chilliwack,BC clear down to Rochester to come to Pacific and do some side by side grudge racing. Logged into the “Compu-link” were 106 racers times and speeds, the “only” place that both lanes are seen.

When you get your time slip after the “instant” green start is “only” your info and “none” of the other lane. 106 grudge racers at a “bonus” event for them as their season and it’s four dates have been run with the last race bringing I’m thinking 20 or so cars and way more the previous two combined but 106 just shows what the internet and Willy Peterson, who is the driving force on social media guiding all those that are into grudge racing and follow “Street Outlaws” to the outlet off the streets and under “safe” conditions to duke it out.

All in all a great showing and cannot wait till the next one.

Jr. Thunder – Ryan Warnke
Jr. Lightning – Josh Schmanke

Two Days of ProFormance Racing School Action at Pacific Raceways

06-07 Sept 2017 Kent, WA – A couple of days and two classes of students going thru the ProFormance Racing School end the sessions the same way – “better” driver’s than they were the day before.

Age or gender makes no difference, what you learn by taking the class is the same to all. You “will” become a better driver by doing so. It’s an active school for over twenty years and there are many more years of experience combined in the knowledge of owner Don Kitch and his instructors who by the way come from many forms of motorsports backgrounds.

There is little difference in what you feel when sudden inputs of steering or braking are done. Todays’ anti-lock brakes will let you do more than you think and learning what it “feels” like when using them suddenly and hard teaches more than you think.

Bring your car or use one of the school cars but do yourself and all around you and become a better driver by going thru the school. Go to the ProFormance Racing School web site and make a date.

Two albums this time – One for each day of action. Click on the links below for both the September 6th, and September 7th days of classes.

40th Annual NW Division ET Finals at Woodburn

04 Sept 2017 Woodburn, OR – As the rotation goes for the tracks that host the E.T. Finals Woodburn Dragstrip has that deed in 2017. From fourteen tracks in the NW Division came their teams – formed from the champions and top placers from their E.T. series for the season.

With 543 entries for the team championship and a couple of people with them there had to be near a couple thousand packing the grounds at Woodburn. That many people in one spot can create a ton of “heat” but was nothing to what “mother nature” put everyone into. Temps hovered around the triple digit mark but the high 90’s had all seeking shade and liquids and bags of ice being grabbed up as soon as they arrived.

Keeping the liquids chilled weather in your drink or the cooler but many more being used to cool machines and many forms of the swamp cooler trying to chill your camp could be seen along with one Super Pro dragster driver with a cooling unit hanging off the cage. No telling what the weather will be like next year in Boise – Firebird has hosted some pretty hot weather events themselves, but I’m pretty sure that they do not want any record temps.

This year’s finals could be a prep for that event as the degrees are logged into the racer’s books for future use.

The NW Division champions now set their goals on Pomona and racing on the “big” stage. “GOOD LUCK” to all and to Pacific Raceways and their smashing the round wins record with 102 “WIN’S” here this weekend. Congratulations and great job of choosing the “TEAM”.

Images From all FOUR days are organized in FOUR albums, by day – Click here to go to the event folder, where you can then visit all FOUR event albums.

Big Day at Import Face Off

27 Aug 2017 Kent, WA – Driving on the hi-ways and by-ways you cannot help but notice all the imports on the road. A large portion of those gather each year at Pacific Raceways for a car show, vendor midway and drag racing.

These modern day machines are being customized in ways that if you can dream it you can build it. Paint, parts, power, wheels and rims show what can be done with today’s technology can do. The power generated by mostly 4-cylinder motors is pretty stout for the cubic inches they displace.

Along with all this the social media aspect of this generation spreads the word that marketers can only wish for and the crowds on the property and stands showed that.

Mark your date book for next year’s IFO and come check it out.

Images from all the action are now available – click here to go to the photo album.

This the last race of the 2017 Swift Tool E.T. Series will see those champs crowned and from them will emerge a “King of The Track”.

Car Club, Jr Dragsters & WCSA at Pacific Raceways

25 Aug 2017 Kent, WA – It was the end of the season for the Car Club members and it showed as the lanes were loaded with cars looking to take home the last race hardware. The Jr Dragsters here for their second to last race in their season also filled the Fall National lanes with Jr. Thunder’s champ too close to call.

Rounding out the race date, WCSA brought their high horsepower rides with smaller than normal tires for that much power for qualifying and attempts to tame all that power.
